Why it’s Necessary to Walk in the Truth

Why it’s Necessary to Walk in the Truth

Why it’s Necessary to Walk in the Truth. Walking in the truth is a process and a journey. We must be alert, not mindless, and daily renew our minds with the truth in Scripture.

The truth never changes and it never fails. “Nothing gives me greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” ~ 3 John 1:4.

Walking in the truth fills the heart and mind with joy. In order to walk in the truth, we need God’s truth, the truth of Scripture of what is going on in our hearts, and the truth as experienced by others. But above all, only God can be a firm foundation in the midst of uncertainty.

Truth is the fulcrum upon which all of one’s doctrine and practice balance. If you do not have truth as the basis for your beliefs and actions, an imbalance will be manifested in every aspect of your life. God desires that our doctrine and our practice both flow from a foundation of truth.

Jesus said. “If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”~ John 8:31-32

Why it’s Necessary to Walk in the Truth. Truth brings us into the lasting happiness and satisfaction of our relationship with God. In no other place can we find the satisfaction that will last. When we draw close to God, we find all the satisfaction and peace our heart has been longing for. God created us for Himself.

“so that the Lord may carry out His promise which He spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your sons are careful of their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.” ~ 1 Kings 2:4.

There are a lot of lost Christians or other religious believers on this planet. They have committed their lives to their beliefs but have receded into the darkness of their past sins and can’t find their way out. This only leads to hopelessness and despair as shame and guilt overtake them.

So the question is why is it necessary to walk in the truth?

You can probably look at your current situation and point to choices that brought you to where you are. That goes for both the good and the bad. That should motivate our decisions for the future. God’s Word says over and over that if we obey it, things will go well, and if we don’t, things will go south. Sow the Word into your heart, and over time you will reap the decisions that were influenced by that.

Walking in the Truth helps us build ourselves up in faith, keep ourselves in the love of God, and gain the mercy of God. On a journey towards attaining joy and happiness, we need to strengthen our faith and draw closer to God. Growing in your faith means increasing your knowledge of God’s Word and trusting Him in everything. That is what devotion entails and what will sustain you on your journey.

Why it’s Necessary to Walk in the Truth. It is important to Walk in the Truth. Moses said in Deuteronomy 4:29 that “if you seek the Lord with all of your heart, you will find Him.” That was after Israel had chased after idols and carved images. The Lord will extend mercy to those who turn back to Him.

Avoid living in darkness and start walking in the light and in the truth. As humans, we have what is necessary to walk in the light and be truthful. Avoid the darkness that comes on you when you give in to temptation. Don’t dabble around the edges of the darkness, thinking you can have both. Rush towards the light and bask in its warmth.

When you walk in the truth, life becomes free and joyful. Your conscience is always good and straightforward. When I walk in the light, I have fellowship with others because as soon as I see something that could come between us, I choose God’s Word over my own lusts and desires.

My final words are that, If you want to walk in truth and love you need to be willing to say ’No’, to stand up for the truth, identify false or bad actions, be consistently living according to what you believe, with integrity, and no deceit.
